"Adding to the festive spirit of the Marshalton Triathlon this year is its concurrent timing with the 300th anniversary of the birth of Humphry Marshall, the namesake of the Village of Marshallton. Humphry Marshall was a celebrated 18th-century botanist and scientist who is best known as the author of Arbustum Americanum: The American Grove (1785), the first publication and catalog of native plants, shrubs, and trees that was written by an American and published in America. The race course will identify three notable sites along its route associated with the life of Humphry Marshall–his birthplace in Derbydown, the home he built in Marshallton which is a national historic site, and his burial site in the Bradford Friends Meeting cemetery."

- The Triathlon kicks off in front of the West Bradford Fire Company firehouse with a 2.3 mile ride through the historic village of Marshallton passing two notable sites associated with the life of Humphry Marshall. The first, Humphry Marshall’s burial site at the Bradford Friends Meeting cemetery, will be located on the left side as you exit Marshallton. Continue pedaling along West Strasburg Road passing the Humphry Marshall house site at the corner of Northbrook Road on your right. Next up is a brief exhilarating downhill as you make your way to the Northbrook Canoe Company.
- Just before crossing the Brandywine River bridge to start the second leg of the race, keep an eye out for a sign identifying the birthplace of Humphry Marshall in front of Castle Rock Farm on Northbrook Road. Then let the paddling fun begin as the crew at Northbrook Canoe Company assists you and a partner into a canoe for a refreshing 2.3 mile paddle along the Brandywine. The water level of the Brandywine determines the challenge of the next 2.3 miles and the pros from Northbrook Canoe Company are on hand to assist along the way.
- Now onshore, participants walk briskly for the Pace Leg. The course starts on paved surface that leads to a lush forest path. Warning! Race marshals will disqualify runners.
- Everyone is back on their bicycles and pushing hard for the finish line now. The challenge of this final leg is the uphill on Northbrook Road, with the firehouse finish line just around the corner. Finishers then join family and friends for a well-deserved pat on the back and refreshments and entertainment at the Triathlon Festival. Congratulations!
"The Mid-Atlantic Super Series (M.A.S.S.) is the premier mountain bike race series in the Mid-Atlantic region. The M.A.S.S. is a cooperative effort by M.A.S.S. directors, race promoters and team directors to link together many great races into season-long individual and team competitions.
The goal of the M.A.S.S. has always been to provide a competitive as well as a fun and festive race atmosphere. The M.A.S.S. has something for everyone. From the Elite Open class pitting the best racers of all ages against each other for substantial cash prizes to beginner junior classes for young racers.
A big part of the M.A.S.S. is the team competition. The team competition is broken into Open, Grassroots, Endurance and Enduro team divisions and at the end of the season team awards are presented to the top 3 teams (1 for Enduro) in each division. Many racers are more concerned with their teams placing than they are their individual series standings.
The M.A.S.S. race courses are some of the best in the country and vary greatly from fast, flowy singletrack to tight, technical rocks and roots to big mountain climbs to twisty, sandy south Jersey style riding. Our promoters spend countless hours preparing, maintaining and marking our courses to deliver a high-quality mountain bike racing experience for riders of all abilities and strengths. Many of our promoters dedicate part of their race proceeds benefit charitable organizations. We believe in giving back to our communitees and leaving our trails better than we found them.
At the end of the season the M.A.S.S holds a huge awards ceremony at our final races for each series. Last year the M.A.S.S. awarded over $5,000 in end of season awards and that included over 35 series champion jerseys, 100+ trophies and 12 team cup plaques."
